Pricing guide

How much does ceramic coating cost in Tampa?

At Papaya Detailing, a ceramic coating in Tampa costs $595 to $795 for brand new paint, and $1,195 to $1,395 for New Car Protection, which adds a machine polish and coats the wheels, trim and glass too. The price depends on the size of the vehicle. Older paint that needs correction is quoted after we see it. All prices are before sales tax, and we come to you anywhere in Tampa.

Prices current as of October 2026.

Prices by vehicle size

A coating is priced by how much surface there is to prep and coat, so size sets the price.

What you get at each price

Coating Only. A full decontamination (foam, hand wash, iron removal and clay), then a 5-year ceramic coating on the paint. No machine polish, so it is only for paint that is already perfect, which in practice means a car that just came off the lot.

New Car Protection. The same decontamination, then a one-step machine polish to clear light swirls and bring up the gloss, then the 5-year coating on the paint. The wheel faces, exterior trim and all the glass get their own ceramic as well. Nothing extra to add.

Adding to Coating Only. Wheel ceramic is $150 at any size. Trim ceramic is $100. Full glass ceramic, the windshield and every window, is $150, $200 or $250 by size. Add all three and New Car Protection is usually the better deal, because it includes the polish.

What drives the price

01

Paint prep

The biggest variable. A coating locks in whatever is under it, so swirls get polished out first. That is hours of machine work, and it is where most of the difference between quotes comes from.

02

Vehicle size

More panels means more to decontaminate, polish and coat. A full-size pickup takes noticeably longer than a sedan.

03

What gets coated

Paint only, or the wheels, trim and glass too. Each surface takes its own ceramic.

04

Paint condition

Older paint with deeper swirls, haze or water spotting needs more than one polishing step. That is quoted on the car, not from a price list.

Why a cheap coating costs more later

When a coating is priced far below the rest of the market, the polish is usually what got skipped. The coating then seals the swirls and wash marks in, and they stay for as long as the coating does. Getting them out later means removing the coating and starting over.

Ask any shop the same three questions before you compare prices: is the paint polished first, how many years is the coating rated for, and are the wheels, trim and glass included.

Is it worth it in Tampa?

For a car you plan to keep, usually yes. Paint here faces sun, bird droppings, tree sap and bugs every day. Wax lasts weeks. A sealant lasts months. A ceramic coating lasts years, protects the paint underneath and makes every wash faster.

If you are selling the car within six months, it is hard to justify.

Cost questions

Before you book.

Is sales tax included in these prices?

No. Sales tax goes on top: 7.5% in Tampa, which is 6% Florida plus 1.5% Hillsborough County. A $1,295 coating comes to $1,392.13.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Tell us about your car and we will text you the price. Nothing is booked until you say yes.

How much is ceramic coating for a truck or SUV?

A large SUV or pickup is $795 for Coating Only and $1,395 for New Car Protection. A crossover or small SUV is $695 and $1,295. All before sales tax.

How much is ceramic coating for a new car?

If the paint is brand new and perfect, Coating Only is $595 to $795 by size. New cars often pick up light swirls from dealership washes, which is why New Car Protection polishes first. That is $1,195 to $1,395.

Why do some shops charge $2,000 or more?

Usually more correction work, a longer-rated coating, or paint protection film bundled in. Ask what is included before comparing two prices.
