What we collect
When you use the quote form on this site
- Your first name and mobile number. These are saved as soon as you tap Continue on that step, so we can reach you about your request even if you do not finish the rest of the form.
- Your ZIP code or neighborhood
- Your vehicle's year, make and model, its size, how new the paint is and where it is kept
- The day and time you would like us to come, if you pick one
- The package we would likely recommend and an estimated price, worked out from your answers for our own use
- How you reached this site, such as an ad, a search engine or a link. This is read from the page address and your browser's referrer when you send the form. Nothing is stored in your browser for it.
We also record the IP address and browser identifier that submitted the form. We use these only to stop automated spam and to rate limit abuse of the form. They are not used to build a profile of you or to track you across other sites.
When you contact us through Facebook or Instagram
If you reply to one of our ads or submit one of our lead forms on Facebook or Instagram, Meta passes us the information you entered, typically your name, phone number, ZIP code and vehicle type. Meta's own handling of your data is governed by their privacy policy, not this one.
When you become a customer
- Vehicle details, including make, model and condition notes
- Appointment dates, times and service addresses
- Photographs of your vehicle taken before, during and after the work
- Records of what was performed and what was charged, including amounts paid, sales tax and any tip
What we do not collect
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. The one third party script on it is the Meta Pixel, described in the next section.
We never see or store your full card number. If you pay by card, the payment is handled by the card processor and we only keep a record that the payment happened and for how much.
Advertising: the Meta Pixel
This website uses the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. When you visit, it sets cookies and sends Meta information about your visit: the pages you view, when you open the quote form, when you finish a quote request along with an estimated value, and technical details such as your IP address and browser. Meta is not told when you only give your name and number. When you finish a quote request, it may also pass Meta your name and phone number in scrambled (hashed) form so Meta can match the visit to an account. Meta may connect all of this with a Facebook or Instagram account you are logged into.
We use it to measure whether our ads work and to show our ads to people who have visited this site. Meta's use of this information is governed by its own privacy policy. You can limit ads based on this activity in your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences, or block it by blocking third party cookies in your browser.
How we use your information
- To contact you about the detail you asked for, and to give you a price
- To schedule your appointment and find your vehicle
- To perform the service and record what was done
- To send you a quote, invoice or receipt
- To keep the financial and sales tax records Florida requires us to keep
- With your permission, to show before and after photographs of our work
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to detailing your vehicle.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers. It is shared only with the small number of providers we need to run the business:
- The company that hosts our website and booking system, which stores the records on our behalf
- Our email and messaging providers, used only to notify the owner that a new quote request came in
- Our text message provider, used only to send the texts described below
- Our payment processor, if you pay by card
- Meta, if you reached us through a Facebook or Instagram ad, since the lead originates on their platform, and through the Meta Pixel described above
- Our accountant or the State of Florida, where tax law requires it
Text messages
When you submit a form on this site or a Facebook or Instagram lead form and give us your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from Papaya Detailing about your request: replies to your inquiry, quotes, scheduling, appointment reminders and follow-ups. Message frequency varies with your request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. Consent to texts is not a condition of any purchase.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except the text message provider we use to deliver the messages.
Photographs
We photograph vehicles as part of normal work, both to record condition before we start and to show the finished result. We may use these photographs on our website and social media. Photographs are framed on the vehicle, and we remove or blur license plates before publishing. If you would rather we not publish photographs of your vehicle, tell us at any time and we will not, including after the fact.
How long we keep it
Inquiries that never become jobs are kept while they are still worth following up on, and cleared out once they are stale.
Records attached to money, meaning completed jobs, invoices, payments and receipts, are kept for as long as Florida tax and business record rules require. These records are archived rather than erased, because deleting them would break the revenue and sales tax history we are obligated to be able to produce.
Your choices
Call or text (845) 248-7035 and we will:
- Tell you what we have on file for you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your information, with the exception of completed transaction records we are required to keep
- Stop contacting you
- Remove any photograph of your vehicle from anywhere we have published it
You do not need a reason and there is no form to fill out. Ask and we will do it.
Children
This site and our services are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, call us and we will remove it.
Security
Our booking system sits behind an encrypted connection, staff access requires a password, and records are stored on managed infrastructure. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise, but the amount of personal information we hold is deliberately small.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top. If we change the tracking on this site, this page will say so before the change goes live.
